It's a flair Bernardo Gaeiras and Chris Julien developed during their early careers as artist/designer and cultural philosopher whilst unfurling the heady intricacies of life. Since their first musical encounter in 2007, the colourful and seductive textures of housemusic have exerted an ever increasing pull on them, honing their ears and driving their mutant house acrobatics to the forefront of the Amsterdam scene.

With Love Weapons, their first official mixtape for 2011, The Heykids showcase a fresh strain of electronic music emerging the past six months from LA, Detroit, New York and Berlin. It's a sound as intelligent as it is humorous, fusing the hypnotic grooves of deephouse with the appealing hooks of popmusic; a combination that intrigues the connaisseurs and charms the masses. More importantly, as the title of the tape suggests it's music that evokes the kind of big feeling The Heykids pursue in all walks of life.
