About Chris:
Chris James is a DJ and Producer based in Birmingham, UK.
Emerging from obscurity in early 2005, Chris hit the UK club scene after several years successfully pioneering popular regional radio shows; his skill as DJ and selector quickly earned him residencies at some of Birmingham's most important House nights.
With his recognition swiftly snowballing, it wasn't long before Chris was hitting the decks around the nation, and even as far afield as Ibiza and Australia. His exploits have earned him sets at clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, Empire and Monastery to name but a few.
Having been a hobby producer for some time, Chris began to focus seriously on his production in early 2008, and his tracks can now be found in the CD wallets of DJs such as Claude VonStroke, Jesse Rose, Derrick Carter, Justin Martin, Jamie Anderson, Riva Starr, Renaissance Man, Mark Knight, Laidback Luke, Tom Flynn, Round Table Knights, Worthy, Saeed Younan, Nic Fanciulli, Catz N Dogz, Jet Project, Daniel Haaksman, Brodinski, Wolfgang Gartner, Camel, Solo, Hannah Holland and many, many more.
With releases on labels including; Potty Mouth Music, Anabatic, Artform, and Dubnoir (his own imprint), Chris James is proving to be a heavy hitter in the realm of the up and coming DJ/Producer, and is propped by many to be one to watch.
With so many contacts made along the swift route Chris took to becoming a known name in the House circuit, he found no trouble collecting contributors for his own brand; DubNoir Music.
The label has been gaining considerable steam over the last few years, and with support from aforementioned names above aswell as the likes of Annie Mac (Radio 1), Kissy Sellout (Radio 1), Dj Zinc, Oliver $, Sinden and releases from artists such as Tom Flynn & Edu K, it certainly is an imprint set to be a powerful player in the scene.
Chris James is set to have a busy 2011; with several residencies under his belt, playing with the likes of Jesse Rose, Justin Martin and others, increasing his demand both nationally as well as across the globe, and with DubNoir showing no signs of slowing it's assault of celebrated output, it is time to take note.
We also had a little interview with the man himself..:
Who are you? Chris James
What do you do? I'm a DJ firstly, and secondly I produce house music.
Where are you from? Birmingham, UK
What is your New Year's resolution? It was to get fit again, but it's 20 days into the new year and I still havent started. I definitely will soooooon :)
What do you hope to achieve this year? To continue to make the music I really like, and continue to get support from my favourite artists. I would love to be able to dedicate my full time to music in 2011, so I'm going to make a big effort to make sure that happens.
What has been the best moment in your career so far? Hmmm, there have been a few surprising moments, I think someone posting on youtube my remix of Riva Starr's - I Was Drunk Remix, and it was Derrick Carter playing it in a packed club in Belgium, last year. It kind of put things into perspective.
What are your top tips for 2011 artist-wise? Julio Bashmore Maya Jane Coles Tom Flynn Worthy Thieve Poligono

"Welcome ladies and gentleman to 2011. Year of the hippo. We are very pleased to present the maiden release on Squelch & Clap Records – Tete De Tigre - The Pelican Bay EP. Two tracks of forward rolling, dark, tropical & sublimely heavy vibrations, served up with a wonderfully weird remix from Swedish yoot - (and hottest ticket for 2011) - Karl Kanauji, Plus a stereotypically tight, house-meets-disco-meets-earth-wind and fire remix from S&C uber alles Rene Van Munster."
So. Enough of this hyping babble, lets get down to brass tax…Here is the music:

"I just put the finishing touches to my “Rambazamba” album which is scheduled for an end of April 2011 release. The hardest thing was to make the final selection and track sequence. Blood, sweat & tears accompanied my choice. One of the tracks that didnt made it into the final is “Tamanehro”. Grab it from here and consider it an appetizer to “Rambazamba."

"Here's a mix that put together by L-VIS 1990 and the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team (Orgasmic & Teki Latex). The first half is mixed by L-Vis, the second by SPTT. Our two labels are very proud to be throwing a party together at the Social Club Paris on January 28 with Bok Bok, Girl Unit, Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, Canblaster and Sam Tiba (facebook event HERE).
There is also another party of the same kind, in another city, on another continent, scheduled for March but we shall announce that later.
In the meantime enjoy this mix displaying current and forthcoming releases, favorites and classics from these two labels, and feel free to share it!
Round Table Knights are tipped to have a hot year in 2011: their remix of Tensnake’s “Coma Cat” was named Pete Tong’s essential new tune of the year, and buzz is already building around their debut album, Say What?!, due out in February on Jesse Rose’s Made To Play imprint. Now you can take a seat at the Knights’ round table, as an entrant in the “Say What?!” remix contest.
Your task: dig into the parts for the Knights’ lead single, a juicy, sultry, feel-good house jam that’s bursting with warm keys and a killer sing-along hook.
The winning remix, selected by Made To Play and the Round Table Knights, will be released on Made To Play. And complementing that, we’ve got one of our best prize packs ever, including free enrollment in an online course in music production from Point Blank, Traktor Pro software and Audio 2 DJ soundcard from Native Instruments, a $200 Beatport voucher, plus a signed copy of the album, a t-shirt, and a year on Made To Play’s digital promo list.
The parts go on sale on January 11, and one week later, on January 18, track submissions open. The submission period ends at 10pm (Mountain Standard Time) on January 31, after which point the online voting period begins; the winner will be announced on or around March 1.
